We "walk quietly" to our lockers, put away our things, and take out any "important papers" we may have. Once the classroom door is open, we say good-bye to our grown up and come into the classroom.
What happens next?
We start by having free play, for about 15 or 20 minutes. Then whoever is the "Bell Ringer" (this and every other job change daily), let's us know it is time to clean up.
Once our toys are put away, we sit on our carpet squares for Circle Time. We sing our good morning song, and do a couple of movement songs, to help us wake up and get the wiggles out.
Then we read at our job chart, and go over who has a job....(Calendar, Meterologist, Line Leader, Door Holder and Bell Ringer).
After that, we wash our hands and have a snack.
After snack, we are encouraged to get a book, and lay on our tummy (on a carpet square) and read. Once everyone is finished eating snack, our books get put away, and we have another Circle Time.
This time, we will talk about our topic for the day, and learn what activities we are going to do, and what areas are open for Free Play.
We play, rotating in and out of areas as we desire, and make a stop at each of the tables that have an activity going on. We call this "doing our work".
After our work is done, the Bell Ringer once again let's us know it is time to clean up. We will sit and have a story, and sing some songs. Weather permitting, we will go outside for a few minutes.
By then, it is time to leave! We sing the Goodbye Song and get our coats and backpacks. Then we "walk quietly" down the hallway, to the gym, and wait to be dismissed to our grown-up.
